What Is Hail Damage?
When HAIL hits a shingle, the shingle gets "bruised" much like an apple. The granules get knocked loose and the fiberglass matting that supports the asphalt and granules fractures. The shingle becomes weak and over time the asphalt around the fracture wears away causing your roof to leak and subsquent damage.
A long duration or a large amount of pea & marble sized hail literally sandblasts the shingle granules away and exposing the asphalt & matting causing breakdown, which in-turn causes your roof to leak.
